Advancing Global Health, Education,
Research, Innovation, and Care...
The Center for International Health is the lead agency of a consortium
that includes the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, the Medical College
of Wisconsin, Aurora Health Care, Marquette University, Froedtert
Hospital, Children's Hospital and Health System, Concordia University, the
City of Milwaukee Health Department, Milwaukee County government, and
the Rotary Club of Milwaukee.
The Center for International Health is designed to develop and connect the global
health programs and activities of Wisconsin’s organizations in the health, education,
research, and government sectors, and to improve global health through partnerships
that benefit people and communities locally and globally, generating meaningful
learning opportunities that produce the next generation of global health leaders.

•  We value global cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships that transcend
national boundaries.
•  We believe in establishing health equity in communities around the world, including
the communities in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
•  We embrace interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration.

We are a private, non-profit organization, administratively aligned under a
professional services agreement with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM),
receive programmatic support and operational guidance under an agreement with the
Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), and have benefited from close relationships with
federal funding agencies including U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)
and the American International Health Alliance (AIHA).

We are governed by a Board of Directors comprised of the leadership of our
consortium member institutions, whose faculty and staff members have opportunities
to take part in grant applications, program activities, and various committees.

By bringing together Milwaukee's leading organizations in the health, education,
research, and government sectors, we have been able to provide training for well over
3,000 individuals (and thousands more indirectly through a "train the trainers"
approach) in more than 40 countries on five continents over the past 27 years.

Our focus has been the development of primary healthcare systems, emergency
medical services, physician specialty and sub-specialty training, nurse clinical and
management training, maternal and child health services, women's health services,
mental health and substance abuse programs, oral and dental health services, chronic
and infectious disease control and prevention programs, and nutritional services.
