The Center for International Health is an internationally recognized 501(c)3 organization that offers training, consultation,
technical assistance, material resources and health systems development techniques to strengthen communities, their
health care systems and the capabilities of their health professionals in emerging and developing countries. Since its
inception in 1986, the Center has provided training, supplies, nutritional support and educational services to thousands of
physicians, nurses and other health sciences professionals, technicians and workers in more than 40 countries through
over 50 health partnerships and initiatives.
The Center serves as the lead agency of an area-wide consortium that comprises Milwaukee County Government,
Children's Hospital and Health System, Froedtert Memorial Hospital, the Medical College of Wisconsin, the BloodCenter
of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, Marquette University, Concordia University, Aurora Health
Care and GE Health Care. In carrying out its mission, the Center draws from the resources - faculty, health professionals,
programs and material - available through its consortium members, deploying these in a manner tailored to meet the
specific requirements of each program.
Over the past twenty-seven years, the Center for International
Health has focused on the development of primary healthcare
systems, emergency medical services, hospital and health
policy administration, physician specialty and subspecialty
training, nurse clinical and management training, maternal and
child health services, women's health services, mental health
and substance abuse programs, oral and dental health services,
chronic and infectious disease control and prevention programs,
and nutritional services.
