| MARK ANDERSON, MSHHA, MATS President and CEO Mark Anderson joined the Center for International Health in March, 2003 as Executive Director and assumed the role of President in 2004. Mr. Anderson received a Master of Science Degree in Hospital and Health Administration in 1980 from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He served in senior administrative posts for over 25 years, including a tenure of 20 years at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 1991-2000. Before joining CIH, Mr. Anderson was employed by Project HOPE from 2000-2003 as Senior Executive Director, Medical Operations (Asia/Middle East). Additionally, Mr. Anderson has served extensively on local boards and on the boards of internationally focused non-governmental organizations. In 1997, Mr. Anderson received a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) Degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois. FREDERICK TAVILL, MD, DPH Senior Program Consultant Dr. Frederick Tavill was the founding Executive Director of the Center for International Health. He received his medical education at the Faculty of Medicine, Manchester University, England and his graduate hospital training in England and the U.S. He trained in public health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. He worked for several years as a primary care physician in England, South Africa and Iran, and spent fourteen years working for an NGO in the international public health and health services management fields in Iran and Morocco. Dr. Tavill’s academic career spanned the period 1968 to 2003. He held faculty appointments in the Department of Community Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, Boston and in the Departments of Preventive Medicine and Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. During his tenure at the Medical College of Wisconsin, he was appointed Associate Dean for Ambulatory and Community Medicine and Associate Dean for Geriatrics and Gerontology. Dr. Tavill’s professional appointments include serving as Medical Director of the Roxbury Comprehensive Community Health Center, Boston, and Medical Director of the Milwaukee County/Medical College of Wisconsin Downtown Medical and Health Services. Dr. Tavill also worked as Executive Director of the MetroHealth Clement Center for Family Care, Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center and as Medical Director of the City of Cleveland Department of Public Health. THOM R. FEROAH, PhD Director, Program Development Dr. Feroah joined the Center for International Health in October of 2008 to facilitate the development of new programs as well as to build the capacity of ongoing programs. Dr. Feroah has a special interest in establishing and developing an Institute within the Center that focuses on global health promotion and disease prevention. In addition, Dr. Feroah has a background in Outcomes Measurement and its application to health and disease prevention, especially in the use of photo-documentary in this area. Dr. Feroah received his doctorate in Physiology from the Department of Physiology, Medical College of Wisconsin in 2001. Thereafter, he joined the Department of Pediatrics where his research focus was on the genomic basis of sleep, breathing and movement disorders, and also served as the Director of Research in the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Sleep Laboratory. Prior to his graduate work, Dr. Feroah worked in the field of Sleep Medicine as a technical director of clinical sleep facilities, performing research, as well as, teaching and training physicians and health professionals in Sleep Disordered Medicine through out the world. Dr. Feroah currently holds 4 patents in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing. |

| MARY NEWCOMB, MA Consultant Mrs. Mary Newcomb has been associated with the Center for International Health for the past seven years, beginning as a public relations volunteer before assuming management and fiscal responsibilities. She now works for CIH as a consultant on program development, collaborating closely with Dr. Tavill. Mrs. Newcomb holds a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology from Marquette University and has studied at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. She worked for the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors for twenty years in various positions including Director of Publications and Chief of Staff. In addition, she was an adjunct instructor at Waukesha County Technical College teaching sociology. |
| EMILY SCHMIDLKOFER, MA Marketing and Administrative Coordinator Mrs. Emily Schmidlkofer joined the Center for International Health in early February of 2007. In addition to assisting with administrative tasks, she oversees CIH's public relations and marketing activities and manages internal relations with our consortium member institutions. Functioning as in-house media specialist, graphic designer and website coordinator, Mrs. Schmidlkofer works to publicize CIH's many ongoing initiatives throughout the year. Mrs. Schmidlkofer holds a Master of Arts Degree in Integrated Marketing Communication from Emerson College in Boston, MA. Before moving back to Milwaukee, she worked for Congress Dental Group as Marketing Manager and taught communication, media and public relations at Emerson College. |
